Agency Privatizes 326 Enterprises

The Privatization & Public Enterprises Supervising Agency (PPESA) said it has privatized 326 public enterprises, including their branches, during the past 18 years.

Agency Public Relations Deputy Head Asebe Kebede told WIC recently that more than 13 billion birr was collected from the sale of the enterprises.

According to Asebe, the agency has set a plan to sell 26 public enterprises in this fiscal year. Some seven enterprises have already been transferred to buyers.

The enterprises that were privatized in this fiscal year include Bole Printing Enterprise, Horizen Addis Tyer, Bebeka Agricultural Development, Limu Coffee Plantation, Commercial Printing Enterprise, Awash Wine Share Company and Batu Construction, he said.

PPESA is an autonomous government office entrusted with the tasks of privatizing, supervising, guiding, supporting and controlling state-owned enterprises, it was learnt.
