Tight Security in the Renaissance Dam’s Neighboring Areas

It is announced that the renaissance dam’s neighboring woredas are engaged in tight joint security starting from the beginning of the construction.

The renaissance dam’s neighboring town, Chagni’s security affairs chief, Birhane Berhe said that “since twelve neighboring woredas of the area are collaborating in the joint security control, there is minimal security problem in the area.” The joint security of the woredas have a once in a three months security meeting with the region’s authorities and representatives of the federal affairs minister.

It is also indicated that there is a 24 hours security watch in the Ethio-sudan border. Most of the armed opposition that were on the Benishangul Gumuz and Gambella regions have given up their armed opposition and returned to normal civilian life after agreement is settled with the government.

 It is pointed out that there is a special security force assigned specifically to the overall security of the renaissance dam and that it is working closely with the neighboring woredas joint security.
