Producers, Trade Organizations Urged To Learn From World Trading System

The Ministry of Trade (MoT) said local producers and trade organizations need to have adequate knowledge on world trading system to become competent both at national and international levels.

Trade State Minister, Ali Siraj, made the remark here yesterday at a daylong discussion which the ministry organized for the business community on Ethiopia’s Mandatory Standards Proclamation.

He said domestic producers and trade organizations should build their capacity and know the world trading system so as to become competent and victories at the global level.

The proclamation planned taking into account the international experience was meant to create fair market competition and accountability among the business community, he said.

Firew Mamo, Law Directorate Director with the Ministry of Trade presented paper about the overall view of mandatory standard proclamation.

The business community drawn from all sub cities attended the daylong discussion, it was learnt.
