Preparations Underway To Export Cement

Ministry of industry announced that having met Ethiopia’s cement demand, preparations are underway to export cement. 

Public Relations Directorate Director of the Ministry, Melaku Taye, told WIC that the strategic measures that have taken to equate cement demand-supply curve enabled to fulfill the gap. 

“Cement production of the country has reached the level where it can export to other countries, the Director said, adding that eight cement factories have already taken export licenses.

Previously, the three factories: Dire Dawa, Mugher and Mesebo had been collectively producing 1.75 million tons of cement, WIC Learnt. 
“Currently, there are 18 factories in the country capacitated the country to raise its cement production to 12.12 million tons per annum,  Melaku stated, adding   it has planned to produce  27 million tones at the end of the GTP period.
