Ethiopia Earns Over 164 mln US Dollars From Manufacturing Sector

Ethiopia has secured 164.7 million US dollars in revenue from the manufacturing sector during the past five months, according to the Ministry of Industry (MoI), WIC reported.

Ministry Corporate Communication Director, Melaku Taye, told WIC the stated sum of revenue was earned from the export of textiles and garment, leather and leather products, meat and dairy products, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, construction materials as well as metal and metal products.

Export of leather and leather products made up the largest element of the revenue, generating more than 55.3 million US dollars followed by textiles and garment, generating more than 51.2 million US dollars, he said.

The export of meat and dairy products generated over 30.1 million US dollars, while export of food, beverage and pharmaceutical products contributed more than 25.2 million US dollars, he added.

Export of chemicals and construction materials generated over 2.3 million US dollars, while metal and metal products produced more than half a million US dollars of the overall export earnings, he said.
